Year 6 Welcomed for Transfer Day

On Wednesday 1st July, Newquay Tretherras welcomed their Year 7 class of 2015 for a Transfer Day.

Around 270 pupils from local primary schools attended the day, which aimed to give the students a sample of secondary school life before they start in September.

A number of interesting taster lessons were held, from cooking pizzas in DT to learning how to code in Computing, giving students an insight into what their education at Tretherras will be like.

Mr John Preece, said, “”It was great to see so many nervous and excited Year 6 students. They were all eager and keen and seemed to have a thoroughly enjoyable day”.

Mr Tristan White, Director of Transition at Tretherras said, “Although many of the students have already visited us in the past for workshops and open days, the transfer day is unique in that it’s the first time the students come together as a year group and begin what will be a five year bond together.”
