Students in their final year at Newquay Tretherras strutted their stuff in gowns and tuxes donated by Cornish suppliers in the Year 11 Tux and Tiara evening on Wednesday 4th December.
The glamorous event involved local businesses in a trade fayre, selling a range of prom related products at special discounted rates for the Tretherras students. The Year 11 boys and girls not only pamper themselves but also modelled the fashion show on the school catwalk.
A number of luxury donated raffle prizes were up for grabs that included; D’Laceys dress and Jewellery shop, Ooh La La beauty and massage, a cut and blow dry by Blush Hair, hair products from Butlers, Paula Bayliss beauty treatments, a meal for 2 at the Beached Lamb Café, 2 personal training sessions with Simon Barnes, Moon Beads necklace earrings and bracelets, Tina Hinccliffe Party and prom accessories, Designer Cushion and Cream Tea’s at Marthas Newquay
Some of the proceeds raised by the event will go towards the Year 11 Prom at the end of the academic year.
Mrs Julia Humphreys who co-ordinated the evening commented, ‘Special thanks go to D’laceys Newquay, Pams People Cambourne, New Look Truro, Foster Triniman Newquay and Moss Bross Truro for their generous donations of clothing for students to wear on the catwalk.’
Mrs Humphreys, “A big thank you also to Paula Payliss Makeup and Celissimo hair who worked with the girls on the night to help them create the perfect look.
The evening raised over £300 pounds for the Year 11 prom.
