Success For First Ever NT Creative Exhibition & Showcase

Between 16th-22nd June, Newquay Tretherras held its first Creative Exhibition at Newquay Lighthouse Cinema, to celebrate the hard work of their students.

The work of Art, Photography, Media and Design Technology students was displayed in the foyer throughout the week. This was then concluded by a Creative Showcase, held on the final night in one of the cinema screens and featuring performances from Music, Dance, Drama and Media.

Mr Phil Strugnell, Head of Art and organiser of the event said, “It was a fantastic turn out from the local community, the cinema was jam packed and there was a real buzz on the last night.”

He continued, “I would just like to thank everyone at the Lighthouse Cinema for allowing us to use their venue, they were so supportive and it was a pleasure working with them to develop their cinema as a venue for holding cultural events.”

Mrs Sue Martin, Executive Headteacher of Newquay Education Trust said, “The Lighthouse Cinema was a superb central town venue to showcase the immense range and outstanding level of our artistic talent here at NT. The work was of such an incredibly high standard, we were stunned with its quality! The visual performances were a delight to watch as many of them had gained full marks from enthusiastic exam board moderators.”

“It was a simply wonderful evening, a real tribute to the powerful creative spirit running through NT, and the fantastic teaching and support staff team with which we are truly blessed.”
