It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we follow the school disciplinary procedures fairly and consistently. Teachers are expected to use the school’s three stage discipline procedures to maintain good behaviour.
Stage 1. Sanctions and Punishments. Initial action is implemented by the class teacher who can issue instant punishment. When further action is needed because of persistent problems in lessons or because the same behaviour has been repeated in several lessons, referral should be made at Stage 2.
Stage 2. The Yellow Card referral system. This system is used to report misbehaviour in and out of the classroom to the appropriate Head of Department who will then reinforce and support the action already taken by the class teacher.
Stage 3. The Red Card referral system. This stage is used to deal with students who persistently disrupt the learning of other students.
