Sport Day 2014

Tuesday 24th June gave a spectacular day of sunshine for Tretherras’ 2014 Sports Day (an event that is usually notorious for its bad luck with the weather!)

Students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 spent the day on the school’s sports fields, competing against each other in a variety of athletic events.

The day gave form groups the opportunity to challenge each other in a mix of traditional track events, as well as more contemporary disciplines such as ‘Beat the Goalie’ and archery.

Ms Sarah Goswell and Mr Greg Carter commentated over the day whilst Tretherras Headteacher Sue Martin presented certificates and medals with Sixth Form student Charlotte Cayton Smith, who is the current U20 National Indoor 800m Champion.

All of the competitors put in superb effort, resulting in 21 record breaking results over the four year groups that participated.

Headteacher Sue Martin rounded off the day by saying, “We’ve had lots of record breakers today – more than any others sports day I think! Thanks to all of the participants for creating such a lovely and supportive atmosphere, and an even bigger thank you to the NT Sport team for organising this wonderful event!”

Mr Craig Richards, Head of PE and organiser of the event said, “Our students were fantastic with exceptional levels of participation and record beating. Staff and parents supported throughout ensuring this whole-school event will live long in the memory of everyone that attended.”
