‘Sounds of the Hub’ Performance

Newquay Tretherras students were delighted to feature in both nights of the ‘Sounds of the Hub’ concert last week at the Hall for Cornwall.

Thirty students from NT performed two songs featuring a variety of instruments including ukuleles, guitars and a cajon.

Rachel Millington played baritone saxophone and impressed the leader of County Youth Jazz Orchestra so much that she was offered a place playing baritone saxophone in the ensemble!

Other performances from Tretherras students included a self-written, debut song performed by Year 8 student Georgia Death, a self-composed piano sonata by Sixth Former Zeb Strudwick vocal and vocal solos from Emma Chamberlain, Year 10, and Chloe-Ann Roberts, Year 12.

Rhian Knight, Teacher of Music at Tretherras said “I am very proud of all the performers who represented Tretherras so brilliantly last week. ‘Sounds of the Hub’ is a fantastic platform to perform and share in the amazing music making that is evident in Cornwall. A big thank you to Tanya Moore and the Hub team for making it possible.”
