On Sunday 10th May, members of Newquay Tretherras’ Jiu Jitsu Club attended the first ever regional student training course for the sport.
The students joined other local clubs of the Jiu Jitsu Foundation for the day, which consisted of three hours of high quality instruction from two 3rd Dan Black Belt holders.
The day culminated in the grading of two junior jitsuka, including Newquay Tretherras Ronan Payne in Year 10, who was awarded an orange belt despite not being informed he was going to be graded.
Mr Adam McQueen, Jiu Jitsu instructor and Newquay Tretherras teacher said, “The standard of the students and the work level shown has been very impressive. The junior students really excelled themselves. I am very proud of all the hard work and dedication that members of Newquay Tretherras Junior Club have shown.”
Training in Newquay is held every Monday in Newquay Tretherras’ dance studio, with junior training held from 5-7pm and senior training from 7-9pm. For more information contact Sensei Adam MacQueen at ADM@tretherras.net
