Muddy and cold conditions didn’t stop young athletes take part in the third race of the Newquay Tretherras Primary Cross Country festival, on Wednesday 10th.
With tricky underfoot conditions, young athletes challenged themselves around the modified course, despite a few of the runners literally getting stuck in the mud and losing a shoe.
Hosted at the Newquay Sports Centre, the young athletes were supported and marshaled by the Newquay Tretherras Sixth Form Sports Leaders that included star athletes, Charlotte Cayton Smith and Lowenna Hawkey.
Head of PE at Newquay Tretherras Mr, Craig Richards commented, ‘Conditions have made it a tough race but it has been fantastic to see such spirited participation by the young runners at an exhilarating race! I am also very proud to see our Sixth Form Sports Leaders marshaling this event as they took it upon themselves to get involved.’
