During September, Tretherras 6th Form Future Sport Science students and A Level PE students visited Plymouth Marjons University to experience a top quality sport science fitness-testing laboratory.
They were given the opportunity to use the latest technological equipment in Sports Science and carried out a range of different fitness tests that ranged from reaction time tests to strength and muscular endurance tests.
The Tretherras Future Sport Science course is designed to support students who are considering applying for a place in Higher Education on a sports related course by extending their knowledge, skills and experiences of Sport Science.
Miss Leverton, PE teacher at Tretherras said, “The students were inspired by this wonderful opportunity and the trip really engaged students in to aspiring to higher education and the world of sports science.”
She continued, “One of the highlights of the day was seeing the £35k Bod Pod in use by Olympic Bronze medallist Cassie Pattern who was coming in for her weekly body analysis. The students had a fantastic day and were really inspired by what they had seen.”
Sixth Form PE student, Toby Hogg commented, “It was great to actually put into a practical context what we had learnt in our Theory lessons.”
