National Junior Indoor Rowing Competition

Tretherras Students represent at the National Junior Indoor Rowing Competition

Only 8 students from Cornwall attended the National Junior Indoor Rowing Comp at Lea Valley Athletics Centre North London, on March 21st 2014. Four of them were from Newquay Tretherras.

In its 8th year and now officially the worlds biggest junior indoor rowing event, the competition has inspired a whole new generation of young rowers and gives them their first chance to compete in such a big race.

Over 2,500 students competed overall. Despite the nerves of a big occasion, the Newquay Tretherras students did a fantastic job of representing the County against the best in the UK.

As a result the students are now ranked nationally.

Samantha Edwards (Year 10) came 36th out of 196

Tegan Cluett (Year 9) came 22nd out of 190

Samantha Casey (Year 9) came 13th out of 190

Anna Pengelly (Year 8) came 27th out of 313

Mrs Kay Pender from Newquay Tretherras said, “ These results are a testament to the hard work and commitment in preparation for the competition from the Tretherras girls and I’m looking forward to seeing them progress further as their rowing continues to develop.”
