Mo-fever once again hit Newquay Tretherras when teaching and non-teaching staff supported the Movember Foundation, a charity committed to raising the awareness of men’s health.
Many staff sprouted facial hair during the month of November before taking part in the annual ‘Shave Off’ on the last school day of the month, during which students were able to pay to shave off a teacher’s moustache!
Other fundraising events saw over 600 moustache shaped cookies sold, as well as students wearing fake moustaches and donating a pound towards a non-school uniform day which has been organised for the end of term.
Teacher and event organiser Mr Phil Strugnell said, “It was an amazing demonstration of a school coming together to raise awareness of men’s health issues.”
He continued, “Everyone got involved which made it a really positive community event and we are hoping that we at least equal, if not exceed last year’s fundraising total of £1700.”
