Newquay Tretherras recently welcomed renowned author Julia Golding, who visited the school to hold a full day workshop for 30 Year 7 students.
The multi-award winning children’s writer, who also writes under the pseudonyms Joss Stirling and Eve Edwards, has published over 30 novels, many of which have been released worldwide.
She began the session talking about her background and career, before beginning to speak to the students about the process of creative writing.
With particular focus on creating and building characters, the author got the students involved in various writing activities.
Tretherras Librarian, Mrs Martin said, “The students really benefit from authors coming to talk to them. The sessions give children the courage to put ideas forward as well as improving their English and creative skills.”
