Tretherras Girls Win Gold and Silver at The Cornwall Indoor Rowing Championships

Newquay Tretherras competed in the Cornish Indoor Rowing Championships for Secondary Schools, on Friday 17th January at the Newquay Sports Centre.

Over 300 participants from 22 schools across the county competed in the ‘Go Race Indoors’ framework. The event was run in partnership between Cornwall Sports Partnership and British Rowing staff, with Newquay Tretherras School / Newquay Sports Centre once again providing the venue. The Tretherras Sports Leaders assisted competitors with preparation on the indoor rowing machines.

The event saw categories for Year 7-11 categories and Tretherras student who took part gave some strong performances, with 10 out of the 16 achieving a new personal best time!

Lauren Beckerleg in Year 8 won BRONZE as did Samantha Casey in Year 9. In the girls relay 3 of the Tretherras girls rowed up an age group and still achieved fantastic results. GOLD went to Kelsea Griffiths (Year 7), Lauren Beckerleg (Year 8), Samantha Casey (Year 9), Samantha Edwards (Year 10) and Karriad Shawcross (Year 10). SILVER was won by Daisy Woodward (Year 7), Sophie Luton (Year 8), Tegan Cluett (Year 9), Shannon Beckerleg (Year 9) and Lauren Clough (Year 10).
