Newquay Tretherras Surf Teams have had a busy and successful start to the year.
On Friday 30th September 41 students from years 7 – 11 entered the Cornwall School Games Surfing and Body Boarding Mid Cornwall Competition. The team have had previous success at the event and once again the team brought back the Mid Cornwall Cup.
Newquay Tretherras dominated the competition, in the U16 Girls, U16 Boys and U14 Boys stand up event finals. A very impressive result as all of the finalists qualified for the finals next June.
Stand out performances go to Axe Garratt for winning the U16 Boys and Tai Garratt who won the U14 Boys. Lara Watson Reed won the U14 Girls final in her very first Surfing Competition.
The previous week last years postponed Cornwall School Games Final took place and Tretherras once again won the Trophy. Jordan Zervas came 1st in the U16 category, Aiden Hopkins came 1st in the U14’s and Joe Clifton 2nd in U16 Bodyboard finals.
Mrs Pearce who co-ordinates the surf teams commented, ‘A fantastic achievement from all the students who took part. They are a credit to themselves and all the hard work they put in. We look forward to supporting them in their next competition.’
