Careers Fayre 2016

Following on from last years huge success, the Newquay Tretherras Career fayre held another impressive evening of careers advice for students accompanied by parents.

30 local and national exhibitors were on show for students and their parents to talk to and gain information on the range of career paths on offer on Wednesday 27th.

Mrs Sarah Jeffery, Careers Co-ordinator at Newquay Tretherras commented, ‘The evening was a great success! We had lots of students coming down on the night with their parents, to speak to a variety of different businesses. Students were able to ask questions and find out information about possible career choices and universities.’

The evening was an invaluable experience, particularly for Year 9 students who are currently discussing their GCSE options.

Cameron Frazer Year 9 student explained, ‘I wanted to see what different opportunities and careers were available to me so it was helpful’, whilst Leni Milne also in Year 9 added, ‘It was very well organised and useful to help us choose what options we want to do in school.’

All the business involved also found it to be of benefit and a worthwhile exercise. Verity Henderson from Cornwall Marine Network Ltd commented, ‘There was some good interest from the students into the potential for careers within the marine industry.’

Mrs Jeffery added, ‘We would like to give a big thank you to all those businesses that gave up their time on the night in support of our school and look forward to welcoming them back next year!’
