On Tuesday 18th March, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet performed to Year 10 & 11 GCSE Music students as well as instrumentalists and Jazz Band players.
After performing some traditional brass quintet repertoire, the band held a Q & A session with the pupils where the players discussed how they task to make it in the world of professional music making.
The last session of the day involved the Jazz Band and primary students from Goonhavern School performing collaboratively with the BSO players. The group experimented with Blues improvisation and also learnt a new chart called “Trumpets with Attitude”.
Sam Greaves, a Year 10 trombonist, had the opportunity to work with Andy, the Tuba player on specific multi-tonging technique and said, “It was brilliant and such an amazing opportunity!”
