Armistice Day

Armistic

In the build up to Armistice Day, Newquay Tretherras Students listened to Remembrance Assemblies delivered to them by Evie Hughes and friend  Katie.

The girls presented all week to Years 8-11 students explaining the reasons for commemoration the day. The girls were winners of the First World War Centenary Battlefields Tour Programme back in April and were privileged to join other UK students in visiting memorial grounds in France and Belgium.

Evie explained, ‘The visits were a real honour and the memorials were incredible to see. We used those experiences to work on our assembly presentations. We were very nervous but pleased we did them and received some much appreciated well done comments from other students.’

A two-minute silence was held throughout the school for students to remember the people who have gave up their lives in wars.
